Juvederm

What is Juvederm?

Over recent years, hyaluronic acid has emerged as the miracle compound for filling in wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a physiological constituent of dermal tissue which maintains local moisture content and is gradually reabsorbed with time. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid in the form of viscoelastic gel, which is transparent and homo-geneous and which has four major benefits:

• It is obtained by biosynthesis and is of non-animal origin
• It does not require any prior test
• The molecule is highly biocompatible

Juvederm is obtained by bacterial fermentation and is part of the new generation of implants, while at the same time enjoying the experience of the Corneal group, in the synthesis of cross-linked hyaluronic acid.

Concentrations

Juvederm 18

When injected into the superficial dermis, the fluid version, Juvederm 18, fills fine wrinkles such as crow's feet or peri-oral wrinkles.

Juvederm 24

When injected into the middle dermis, the dense version, Juvederm 24, effectively fills forehead wrinkles, glabellar lines, obvious mild to moderate nasal furrows and cheek wrinkles.

Juvederm 30

When injected into the deep dermis, the densest version, Juvederm 30, fills deep naso-genian folds, returns volume to your lips, sculptures your cheeks and gives your face, its natural oval shape again.

Treated areas should be gently massaged immediately after injection in order to check that the product is evenly distributed. A follow-up procedure a few weeks after the initial treatment is recommended to optimize the outcome.

Are there any side effects ?

Redness, oedema, and pain at the injection site may develop after treatment and generally disappear spontaneously within 72 hours. Occasional cases of induration in the form of nodules, sometimes accompanied by redness, may occur a few days to a few weeks after the injection and have been described after hyaluronic acid injections.

Contra indications:

• Known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid
• Diseases affecting the immune system
• Pregnant or breast-feeding women
• You should avoid exposing yourself to high temperatures (severe cold or saunas, UV or sunlight) during the days following the injection.

Renova

RENOVA® (tretinoin emollient cream) 0.05% is the first prescription cream proven to reduce fine facial wrinkles and lines, fade brown spots and smooth surface roughness when used as part of a total skin care and sun protection program.

RENOVA contains the same active ingredient as RETIN-A® (tretinoin). Called tretinoin, it is a vitamin A derivative like the one naturally occurring in your body. But while RETIN-A is formulated for acne-prone skin, RENOVA is a rich emollient cream developed specifically for treating fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots and surface roughness.

Unlike over-the-counter wrinkle creams which simply exfoliate the surface layer of skin, RENOVA is believed to work on all layers of the skin, including the epidermis, where pigmentary changes occur and even the deeper portions of the skin where fine wrinkling is thought to begin.

Medical research has shown in published articles that RENOVA increases collagen.

Researchers believe this is one way that RENOVA reduces the signs of aging. Patients who respond to RENOVA will begin to notice their skin becoming smoother and softer within the first month or two. Within two to three months, brown spots, fine lines and wrinkles begin to fade. Maximum benefits should be apparent within five to six months of therapy. More than 300 patients between the ages of 30 and 50 participated in the pivotal clinical studies of RENOVA, which were conducted at eight research centers nationwide. In the studies, patients received treatment with RENOVA or a placebo, in conjunction with a total skin care and sun protection program. At the end of 24 weeks, physicians noted some signs of skin improvement in 78 percent of patients treated with RENOVA.

While using RENOVA, patients may experience some redness, itching, dryness, or flaking. This is most often mild, and most common when treatment is started. When using RENOVA, as with any other anti-aging or skin-care product, patients should limit exposure to the sun and always use a sunscreen.

Like other prescription medications, RENOVA has been tested for safety and effectiveness. While it will not repair sun damaged skin, eliminate wrinkles, or reverse the aging process, it is proven to reduce wrinkles, fade brown spots and smooth surface roughness.

RENOVA has been proven effective in clinical trials lasting 48 weeks in Caucasians 30 to 50 years old. RENOVA is a dermal irritant, and the results of continued irritation for greater than 48 weeks are not known, safety and effectiveness in individuals over 50 or in those with moderately or heavily pigmented skin have not been established.
